Spider X “Hydro Blast” (what is Hydroblast?)
Taylor made Spiders are everywhere! From the Tour to your local pitch and putt the Spider series of TaylorMade putters have found their way in to countless bags since the original release way back in 2008. With its bold design and color options, not to mention the forgiveness and adjustability built into the design, its no wonder that its been so popular.
The 2021 line up of Taylor made putters include a “Hydroblast” moniker which is available in the spider series as the “Spider X Hydro Blast”.
But what is hydroblast?
When we first saw the name we wondered if this was some sort of technology built in to help the putter perform better somehow in wet conditions. Or maybe it lined up with something catchy from the marketing department like it would help you to “pour in” more putts. But in the end the “Hydroblast” term has nothing to do with the performance of the club. Hydroblasting is a finishing process using water as the abrasive. Essentially its sandblasting with water and allows for a specific type of pleasing finish that is more durable than paint.
So Hydroblast isn’t some new fancy performance tech. It’s a process that allows for a cool durable finish, and they do indeed look slick! So if you’re a Spider fan and you are looking for a unique finish rather than the color options of the EX take a look at once of these.
